  7. themselves objectionable about this picture for some time. They
  8. have proclaimed it in loud and raucous tones as something like
  9. nothing else in heaven or on earth. Now the picture is here and
  10. there is no come-back. The publicity was all understatement. It
  11. is a masterpiece of restraint, of realism, of power. In it are
  12. crystallized the rigors and magnificences of the pioneers who
  13. wound slowly over the 2,000 miles of the Oregon Trail in '48,
  14. daring perils of Indians and starvation and rushing rivers.
